About us
Aidaway Occupational Therapy is a small mobile practice situated in Melbourne, operated by five highly qualified Occupational Therapists in various locations around Melbourne (including telehealth) alongside an Allied Health Assistant. In addition to our expanding services, we also offer IT disability support and a general support worker service.
Our Team
Our therapists are AHPRA registered and undertake ongoing professional development. We have variable levels of experience, ranging from 3 years of OT experience through to 15+ years. Services will be aligned to the most suitable OT in context of location and skills. Our therapists are male and female and vary from late 20s in age to above.
Our allied health assistant (level 2) is proactive, engaging and is overseen by the leading therapist involved to ensure that positive gains are made to capacity. Our allied health assistant is female and aligns to physical and psychosocial interventions as a holistic overview.
As a service, our approach to therapy is as follows:
– We are friendly and are aware that rapport building is typically at the forefront of successful intervention.
– We strive towards intervention only occurring as required where it may benefit the client. We do not believe in over-servicing and often have an approach whereby clients are instructed to contact us where they feel their service needs may become ‘as required’.
– We are flexible as much as able with our approach.
– We are collaborative and holistic. Our role is inherently diverse and we aim towards targeting our services towards needs which are not met elsewhere within the client’s treating team.
Leadership

- Accredited OT driving assessor (2017)

Deborah Choo
Occupational Therapist
I’m Debbie, a registered Occupational Therapist based in South East Melbourne. I work with adults and older people living with physical or neurological conditions to help them
maintain independence, access the right supports, and live with confidence. I work under the guidance of senior OT Alana Thorpe, ensuring all recommendations are supported by
experienced clinical oversight.
I take a practical, person centred approach and focus on helping people access the right equipment and home solutions to make everyday life safer and easier. I have
experience working within both the NDIS and aged care systems and value clear, simple communication with clients, families, and support coordinators. Most importantly, I take
the time to listen and work alongside each person to support independence, dignity, and quality of life.

Laura D'Souza
Allied Health Assistant
Hey there, I am an AHA offering my services via Aidaway OT. As an AHA, I work under the guidance of an OT or other AHP.
I enjoy supporting both OT and Physio based work, in the NDIS and Aged Care space. I am also building exposure to paediatrics and would like to expand my skillset here.
I am friendly and bubbly, and some of my interests include being active, art, music, nature and animals.
When I was younger, I did digital and 3D art and was part of a small, independent game company.
Areas I typically assist in with Aidaway clients are:
-Routine management
-Habit building
-Skills development
-Independent living skills
-Basic cooking skills or meal ideas
-Support with job seeking
-Basic social skills
-Basic physical activity support
I am generally happy to learn and try and expand my skills and try new things (which is relevant in the vast world of NDIS!)
