Our occupational therapists support older people at home, in residential care and in the community. We take a practical, collaborative approach that reflects each person’s needs, routines and goals.
How can occupational therapy help?
Occupational therapy can help older people maintain or improve their safety, function and independence. We can assist with:
- daily activities such as bathing, dressing and moving around
- navigating the home and community safely
- equipment, assistive technology and home modifications
- challenges related to memory, mental health or conditions such as dementia
- strategies and guidance for family members and support networks
Our therapists have experience across a range of conditions and work with clients, families and other providers to develop strategies that support both immediate and longer-term needs.
What to expect
- An in-home consultation, usually 60 to 90 minutes, alongside collaboration with any relevant supports such as your case manager or family members.
- A report setting out findings on equipment and service needs, sent to anyone you consent to. Aged care funding often requires documentation to support approvals such as equipment, so this is worth factoring in when you engage us.
Funding
There are a range of funding options for people aged over 65. We typically work with clients who have a Home Care Package or Support at Home funding, or who are privately funded, and we are flexible. Where helpful we liaise with family or a support coordinator to make the best use of the funding available. Where an elaborate report is not needed, we will adapt to a shorter letter or report.
